From an early age artist Simon Summerton has shown a passion for drawing and painting. Originally from South Africa this self-taught artist has been painting professionally from the age of 23. Simon now resides on the Sunshine Coast and has embraced the scenery of Australia.
His works are best known for his ability to capture light. Of the tonal school with an impressionist leaning, he is fascinated by the fall of light on objects and the subsequent forms and shapes that arise from that momentary relationship. Artistically it was inevitable that the landscape would become a primary source of inspiration for Simon as it provides all the visual splendour enchantment and atmosphere he endeavours to capture on canvas. He aims to begin each work with a great composition and then leaves the light to pull the strings.
Simons work features in many corporate and private collections both here and overseas.
